Community, Education, Development And Learning (CEDAL)

No meeting planned at this time

Community, Education, Development And Learning are extremely important areas for North Prospect. Recent statistics show that basic skills such as numeracy and literacy are low compared to the city of Plymouth as a whole. Formal qualifications for school leavers and adults are also lower than the city average. Opportunities for personal development are needed to boost local morale and self esteem so that increasingly local residents take up opportunities to develop and realise their full potential. This Theme Group has been developed as part of the overall North Prospect Partnership towards the following purpose.

To bring together all services, organisations, local groups and residents currently providing learning and personal development opportunities for residents in the North Prospect Neighbourhood.

To identify targets for change informed by national floor targets and local priorities.

Work closely with other Partnership Theme Groups in areas of common ground and overlap.

To positively promote North Prospect as a growing area of excellence in the area of community learning, personal development and education with local residents, the neighbourhood and the wider city.

The group also seeks to play a proactive role in raising the achievements, attainment and aspiration of young people in North Prospect, particularly at Key Stage 4. We want to work in partnership with young people, adults education providers and other interested parties to identify ways of improving performance throughout school, but particularly in GCSEs.
